Divisional Police Headquarters Lagos on Sunday evening, May 7.
The incident which occurred around 8:28 p.m. at No. 49, Wosilat Daudu St., Ijeshatedo, also left two persons injured.
The deceased had gone to the area to attend a friend’s birthday party when he met his untimely death, one of the sources said.
It was learnt that the officer and his men had stormed the
venue of the birthday party in two patrol vans at about 6. 30 p.m. and
left after observing what the youths were doing.
“Some minutes later, the officer and his men came back to the venue and one of the policemen shot sporadically into the air.“The officer, who was sitting in front of one of the patrol vans allegedly alighted from the vehicle and brought out his service pistol and went straight to where Ayoade was sitting close to his girlfriend and shot him on the head at close range,” said another source.

American teenager is arrested for helping friend commit suicide saying he wanted to watch someone die
He allegedly told police he had a fascination with death and wanted to see someone die..
A hunter found the girl hanging from a rope in a tree. In two plastic grocery bags on the ground near her body was a handwritten note stating who the girl was and explaining that 'if there were any questions to watch the video', a cell phone and a receipt for rope with Przybycien's name on it. On the cell phone was videotape taken before and after the girl's death.
In a report, the investigating officer wrote: 'You can clearly see the victim (in the video) with a noose around her neck while standing on a rock.
'Przybycien is heard asking the juvenile to say something. The female victim then inhales a large dose of the industrial strength air duster and loses consciousness.
'Przybycien then continues to film this incident on camera for approximately 10 to 11 minutes. Przybycien never offers assistance at anytime, and can be heard asking her to move or say something.'
The two friends can also be heard talking to each other as they prepared the scene together, according to Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon. He said: 'Don't know if he encouraged her as much as he did not actively discourage her. They talked about it. He knew what she intended to do. They went together as he purchased the items she intended to use. And he played an active role in her death.
'He told detectives he had a sort of fascination with death, and wanted to watch someone die.'
According to an affidavit, Przybycien confessed to facilitating the girl's suicide. The affidavit read:
'He confessed to purchasing the industrial strength air duster, purchasing the rope, driving the victim up to the location, helping tie the noose, and filming the incident which resulted in the death of the victim and taking no action to stop it or render aid ''Przybycien also stated that he, too, was suicidal and wanted to watch the victim die to see if it was something he could go through with himself.
'During questioning, Przybycien also expressed feeling that he was responsible for her death and that she would still be here if he hadn’t helped her.'
The girl has reportedly struggled from mental health problems in the past and had suicidal thoughts.

Police detain Chinese man who attempted to stab Ubi Franklin at a furniture show room in Lekki
"Earlier
today I was at LIFEMATE furniture show room at the palms Lekki to
enquire about a service I paid for that wasn't attended to. I was then
asked by a junior staff (Nigerian) to speak to his "OGA" (a Chinese
man). The Chinese man paid me no attention when I approached him with my
concerns, he rather walked away as I was still trying to make my
concerns known to him. So I followed up to say his attitude was
unacceptable and then proceeded to leave the shop since he wasn't going
to pay me any attention or courtesy as a returning customer.
"As
I was walking out the door I heard someone scream, I turned my back,
only for me to see the Chinese man running towards me with two knives.
But for the quick intervention of my cousin the story would have been
different.
37,000 Nigerians Migrated To Italy In 2016
37,000 Nigerians Migrated To Italy In 2016
No less than 37,000 Nigerians migrated to Italy in 2016, the President of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini, has said.
She stated this on Monday during a
courtesy visit to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr.
Yakubu Dogara, in an attempt to unify efforts by both Nigeria and Italy
to check the ugly trend and terrorism.
Boldrini, who did not specify as to
whether the immigrants entered Italy legally or not, remarked that Italy
will stand by Nigeria to combat terrorism, even as it appreciates
ongoing effort to tackle the menace since it remains a threat to the
entire world.
While applauding President Muhammadu
Buhari for the rescue of 82 girls who were kidnapped from Chibok, Borno
State three years ago, she expressed willingness of Italy’s parliament
to collaborate with its Nigerian counterpart to address the challenges
faced by victims displaced by Boko Haram attacks, as well as the
trafficking of people, especially young girls and women, to Italy.
Boldrini also said that she was
concerned that “UN agencies, working to provide aid for IDPs, are
suffering because of lack of aid. It is important that the international
community continues to fund, to get resources for those in need so that
they don’t cut aid for victims of terrorism in this country.”
Dogara who expressed appreciation over her visit, stressed the need for the education and economic empowerment of citizenry.
While calling for partnership between
the two countries to stop the tide of illegal immigration and terrorism
in Nigeria, he said one of the ways the feat can be achieved is through
economic development, which is a sure way to empower people to get out
of poverty and resist the lure to engage in crime or risk travelling to
Europe through the Mediterranean Sea.
He further added that it is the quest
for a better life that motivates Nigerians and other nationalities to
embark on risky journeys across the Mediterranean Sea in hopes of
getting a better life in Europe.
To check the menace, Dogara, urged Italy
to invest in the economy of Nigeria, stating, “the truth is that for us
to deal with terrorism, illegal migration, trafficking and cross border
crimes, we have to address the issue of bringing prosperity to sister
countries so that citizens are catered for and jobs are provided.’’
